Today I was reading the scripture for the Mothers Day Service and i read the wrong scripture and the one i was reading was calling all the mother adulteress and as I was reading it I was thinking this doesn’t make sense. Then while I am reading the congregation was laughing and I wondered what is funny. I turned to see if there was a funny slide, nope nothing there….mmmmm the laughter got louder then our Sr. Pastor let me know I was reading the wrong scripture. You can not imagine my embarrassment on calling all our mothers adulterers….DUH!!!!!!!!!!

If we can’t laugh at ourselves whom can we laugh laugh at….

Mothers Day!!!!!!!!

Mothers Day is almost here. I remember growing up, my mother and I did not have the best relationship in the world. I remember the beatings for no reason, all the physical and mental abuse I had to endure. I wasn’t the best son in the world either. But as time went by and I became an adult and I Christian one of the lessons I learned about was forgiveness. It was a hard lesson to learn. But I did and worked hard on getting closer with my mom. Because of health problems she was bed ridden the last three years of her life, during that time she came to accept Christ as her saviour. That was the best three years of both our life’s, when she died because of health complications I was devastated.

Then a few years back preaching a sermon I was talking to kids about respect, obeying their parents. During that sermon I made a statement trying to let kids know that I NEVER want them to have to ask this question.

If my mother where alive today would she be proud of me???

Make sure you call your mother tomorrow and tell her that you love and appreciate that she put home with us…:)

Never Ask

I had a great day today. My knee is sore and I am having a lot of pain. I go to the hospital for my Pre-Op stuff tomorrow. It will be good to finally have my surgery and not have any pain. But let me tell you of something funny, our Lead Pastor is Dr. Henry Judy (check out his blog @ www.henryjudy.com ), I have adopted him and his lovely wife Darlene as my spiritual parents. Anyway we had a meeting tonight and it well we did alot of vision casting and talking about our church having its first wedding, communion and baptism’s in the next month, ain’t it great. Since Henry and I have met I am telling you that he has me reading alot and that is cool but I have never read so much and enjoyed as I have now. So as we are wrapping things up I ask Henry if there is anything he would like me to read he said yes and he disappeared into another room of his condo and here he comes with an ARMLOAD of books, me thinking oh he is going to give me a choice, as he is going thru each one and setting them on the table. He then finished his mini commentary if each one as I get ready to choose one or two he hands me ALL 14 and tells me too enjoy. So I have learned do not ask Henry for something to read he will more than comply with your request. I love doing ministry with him.
